I'm in taiwan!

I reached Taiwan last night carrying lots and lots of luggage (4 pieces in total....) I think I carried the most luggage in the entire plane LOL...

It wasn't that cold as I expected. We were picked up by a van arranged by NTUST which brought us to our dorms in the campus.

All 4 of us will be sharing the same dorm. Its really interesting. The room is very dirty ( I think its not used for many years) and we spent most the time like cleaning up the room. There are no mattresses and such and we just bought a very thick blanket (which is used for winter) as a mattress (since we are only there for a month, there is no point getting mattresses and such). The plus point is that I think it is free, it is of reasonable size and the furniture is great (I like the arrangement better than RVR ones). Btw, the dirtiness is about the same as RVR.

Our hosts are phd students. They are really great!!!!!! We rode on their bikes (this is my 2nd time on a bike, the first time in vietnam, it was MUCH slower)... Only then did I feel the coldness (but its not that cold)...

After buying locks and everything, we slept and woke up at about 8:30am. (We are meeting one of the phd students for breakfast at 9am). I think my chinese is going to improve by a lot from this trip. I am like forced to use Chinese to converse and read Chinese (fan ti zi) everywhere I go.

Yeah

Since I have some time now its time to update this blog! haha...

I was actually surprised the blog was like left untouched only for around 4 months? So many things happened in these 4 months haha.

I guess I'll only focus on the important stuff.

Firstly, my birthday! :P

So many things happened on my birthday.. Its definitely a memorable day from MORNING.. YES I HAD LAB on that day!!!!! 9am LAB DAMMN IT! had to wake up so early.. I tried to sneak in with my slippers but the DAMMN LAB ASSISTANT CAUGHT ME. SHOUTED AT ME AND ANOTHER GIRL TO GET OUT OF THE FREAKING LAB AND ARRANGE ANOTHER TIME. Got pissed. But the only other time left, monday, is unavailable for me because i'd be in bangkok. THEREFORE I HAD TO GO BACK TO HALL AND GET MY DAMMN SHOES. FREAKING HELL. Luckily the lab was simple though so I finished in time.

Its a FRIDAY!! YES I STILL REMEMBER BECAUSE OF THE STUPID ECONOMETRICS TUTORIAL... We had lunch at Munchie Monky to celebrate and I ate some spaghetti thing haha.
After that, I went to Bangkok with Jianbo (Skipping a EE2011 test which I made up the day after)... On the first day, there was a blackout :'(. We tried to tell the hotel staff that there was a blackout but they do not understand what 'blackout' means.. It was really funny.. Jianbo was bathing and he looked quite pissed off. Overall, It was a great trip.. Jianbo's two friends drove us around and we went to many places (shopping!! yes! my favourite!) , markets, seafood (overpriced crabs!!), sight seeing temples and palaces and such.

What I liked best was the leaning buddha, it was quite impressive and huge... It was a little rushed. I lost my newly bought leather shoes in the rush but I guess I liked the rush. We arrived at the airport _just in time_... 1 more minute and the plane would have left.. all because of last minute shopping haha.. I enjoyed the trip and witnessed Bangkok. The last time I visited thailand was when I went to Phuket and (of course) they are vastly different. Bangkok is a bustling city and the people are usually quite friendly...

However, what I don't like about Bangkok is that it is... HOT... I was like sweating throughout the entire journey haha. Its certianly a memorable experience. Hotel ratajavi or whatever it is was great (ratajavi residence or something) besides the blackout. $50 a night including breakfast If I recall correctly.

Secondly, after the exams.
We had lunch at marche after the final GEM2900 paper (which was dammn freaking easy thank goodness.. after all the hard papers)... Mm.. Nothing interesting except Perry and me ate this 'snail sausage'.. I wonder if it is really snail or something haha... On Sat I went out with Yongfu to (almost everywhere), beachroad etc. to get his stuff and on Sun I went with them to watch a movie before back to hall to pack my stuff. It was really hectic. I packed until about 2am and you know what? I had to wake up at 4am to catch a plane..
I was so tired. at 4am, me, grace, justin, weiming and guangyu met up at the airport to take a plane to Vietnam! that's our 'after exam' trip.. Initiated by me and weiming (initially to go HK), in the end, we decided to go to Vietnam.. The trip was planned by Guangyu and Linna I guess? (Linna and Yi Kai went first).. Guangyu finished the exam 1 week earlier so.. haaiz. The trip was a little rushed... I was like dammn tired after the exams and this made me so much more tired.

Two mornings, we wanted to watch the sunrise but failed. But it was fun. The first time, only me and guangyu went out but we woke up a lil too late.. The second time, Because the hotel locks their front gate, we had to 'sneak out' and we had to like climb rocks... to get down. it's like elevated but all of us managed to sneak out! (except weiming and yi kai who were busy sleeping).. I liked the cu chi tunnels (basically a place with regards to the vietnamese war), climbed through one of em (loads of HUGE CENTIPEDES.. REALLY HUGE!!!)... and the boat trip where we did some power boating (and capsized thanks to guangyu), drank mulberry wine, bought some stuff, etc. etc.

After that trip, I went to Perth with my family.

CNY!

Its a long time since I've posted because I was so busy!! But anyway, a quick summary:
I visited relatives during CNY, went for BP mentoring on sats and blahblahblahblahblahblah.

Anyway today, I went for an interview with Micron (2 interviews actually)...
OMG SO SUCKY
The first interview had two interviewers.. YUCKS.. They asked N-MOSFET.. OH MAN I CANNOT REMEMBER THE EXACT STRUCTURE OF THE ENTIRE THING... Ouch...(the n++) all that.. and the inversion layer and all that stuff.. and GONE CASE.. Then after that we went on to CMOS... Ok, CMOS was alright... drew the inverter correctly.. then the other interviewer suddenly "POPPED UP" a difficult question.. I got it 'sort' of right... aiya, very hard to get this one...

Then the second interview.. OH MAN ask me a simple DIGITAL DESIGN question.. I got it 'sort of'' correct. Anyway i don't think he'll accept me also because he wants 6 months one..
anyway, i thought internships were for clueless undergraduates who don't know anything?? The second interviewer was really great.. i mean the first two, they were like pressurising.. keep on asking questions which are harder and harder... Like, i answered the inverter thing correctly and explained well.. Then, that guy must draw another link there and complicate things a lot??? I already told them i'm only taking the module now..

This internship is GONE CASE.. I DON"T THINK I"LL GET ACCEPTED.. WHAT... When did an interview become COMPLETELY a TEST OF YOUR UNDERSTANDING OF MOSFETS??? without preparation?? Come on!! I expected more "Social" stuff...

Eve of the First Day of Year 2 Sem 2

Today is the last day of pure freedom!!! Tommorow onwards, there comes another hectic 4 months in NUS :(:(:(:(. This sem, I bidded for 6 modules (as usual)... and this time, no S/U modules are planned.

This sem there will be 14 labs in total. And that's really scary. Anyway, today i moved my stuff to old KR :D:D:D:D:D and after that went to kelvin yip's house to play mahjong with joyce , CQ, gloria and huiling. Oh no! I lost this time. qi shi wo le!! mooty moo!!!

After playing, we went to admiralty to eat. I ate another xiao wan guo and it wasn't that good but I give it a pass. 6/10. The noodles are well cooked but the soup doesn't taste that nice. Hehe!! Sianz have to arrange my stuff now. (I just moved this cupboard thing to one side) .

Blood Diamonds

Haha today was a mooty day!
In the morning, there was a meeting with the BP mentoring peeps. Thankfully, the agenda of the meeting was all fulfilled. Basically, the meeting was routine but there was a heated discussion about the part on CCA points. Personally, I think 10 points for normal members are sufficient cos its like a activity in hall (of course don't consider Hall Tech because its an extra xiong activity). I think up to 20-30 points for committee members is sufficient as per normal.

After that, I went to Kelvin Yip's house to play MJ with the usual gang. Was quite OK. I came quite late but in the end managed to be quite ok. Tommorow there is another MJ session. Oh no! About 5:30pm, Joyce had to leave and everyone thus left. KS and me watched a show "Blood Diamonds" starring Leonardo di Caprio. I felt Blood Diamonds is a very meaningful show and also very touching and thought-provoking. It is quite bloody (hands chopped off and stuff). I give the show a 9/10. I have read about how Children's limbs are chopped at Sierra Leonne in a magazine article very very long ago ( i think newsweek or something i forgot honestly). I remembered during that time I was really disgusted by the graphic descriptions and how children's limbs can be cut of like that. The show was really touching at the end.
After watching the movie, we went to eat at the food court. I ate this tom yam soup with rice and it was really bad. Kim seng ordered fish soup noodles and it wasn't tt nice also. I give it at 4/10 and it will be blacklisted forever! yay!

Basketball Day

Today, I went to play Basketball @ dunno where already with KS. So long didn't play basketball already.. got tired really quickly.. Then played with some mooty cows that we didn't really know. They were quite quacky and 'pulled us' to play with them when we were playing ABC. KS's ball was then lent to some people who he dunno. Moo Moo!!!!!!!!!! Such a Mooty game. I think I need to exercise more regularly now LOL so mooty!!!!

After playing, we ate @ Ah Kun. Food was good as usual. The noodles tasted nice and the soup tasted good. I give it a 9/10. We ate fried fish cakes, mixed stuff and noodles that were cooked in a dry manner. Excellent! Ordered a little bit too much though.

Oh ya! My cow has been washed already. Its ready for the new semester! I'm a little bit tired from that mooty game. Tommorow have to go for a BP meeting also.. Mooty Moo!!!

The Sinking of Japan!

Last night and today, I went to CitySquare with KS in the evening. (I went to GH in the morning today).
Yesterday night we ate at Nan Ting. The food was quite good. I ate thai style chicken and the food tasted great! I give mine and KS's food 8/10. The Tom Yam Soup had a lot of stuff inside it also and is certainly great.
Today, we ate at SBS Cake & Cafe. We ate there once before and the food was also great (we mainly tried the western food). Today, I tried the cheese chicken thinge and it tasted very nice. The amount of cheese was just right! I give it at 8/10 too. Before eating, we went to watch a movie: The Sinking of Japan. I thought the show was boring from the start but a little emotional at the end. I think the day after tommorow was made much better than this. I give this a 5/10. But the show does have some salient points that are worth remembering. For example, the part when the new prime minister decides to lie to the Japanese that Japan will only sink after 5 years. There is an implicit message in it that says "do not believe whatever you see/read".

After that, we went looking at some sunglasses. I saw one Louis Koo brand glass (I think its called X something forgot already..) Thought that it was not bad. I might consider buying it tommorow!! Moo Moo!!!

BP Mentors Outing

Yesterday, there was a BP Mentors outing. I was basically out the whole day.

We met at YIH in the morning and departed slightly late. The first event is a food hunt that turned out to be not really a food hunt that I had expected!!! A little dissapointed but it was quite ok. The food hunt was not about eating food from around singapore but about buying stuff for the BBQ.

There were 3 stops: (1) Toa Payoh (2) Suntec City (3) Takka Mall
Basically we just did our tasks and bought all the stuff we wanted.

There were 2 teams. I was with Stella, Xiu Hui, Justin, Wen xin and Wu hui. We finished our tasks very fast (due to some minor cheating) and reached east coast park really quickly. We started the fire (quite successfully and quickly compared to past experiences) and waited for the other team to arrive along with those who did not participate in the food hunt but only joined in the BBQ. The 'wait' was quite boring.

When the BBQ started, we didn't really participate in the BBQing but only in some eating. Played some games like '99', murderer using hands, bridge.. it was quite interesting and fun. Also drank some alcohol. I drank some passion fruit liquor thing... tasted quite nice and fruity. We left at about 10:30. Took a taxi back with Weiming. I reached home at about 12:30. On the whole, I think the trip was quite mooty!

Woke up today and just ate beef mee @ cathay. Its great as usual (its quite a famous stall). But its a little bit stuffy. What i like about the beef mee is that the texture of the beef is great and blends well with the sauce. I would give the beef mee a 9/10. The cleaner is cleaning the house today its quite mooty!

New Year Resolutions

Oops! I forgot to post my new year's resolutions.
Since i'm not a self-disciplined person, I always give-up on my resolutions within like 1 week.
So i guess i'll just write a list of resolutions so that P(at least 1 resolution is fulfilled) is high.

I read a news article and they said that a number one resolution for a number of countries is to get healthier. So...
1. Get Healthier. :P
2. Be more self-disciplined.
3. Maintain CAP.
4. Keep myself tidy.
5. Get Happier... :O:O:O (this is also one resolution from the news article).
6. Get the business going.
7. Some big thing? World peace? LOL!

Happy New Year!!

Great! Its finally 2007!

After reaching home, I slept for a really short while and basically spent time at home, slacking. For dinner, we went to a restaurant in JB called 'ming chu'... I felt the food was 'OK' only. We ate tai shi si chuan suan la tang (i give it a 4/10), tai shi tou fu (7/10) and this interesting 'san bei' chicken (three glasses chicken). The chicken is actually cooked in a claypot with 3 different kinds of wine. I give it a 8/10. Overall, I don't think i'd come back into the restaurant again although service is passable. I think tebrau hawker centre is better for its seafood than this place. This place probably 'wins' from its ambience and service.

Interestingly, I saw Jeyaratnam eating @ the restaurant just across the table!! Jeyaratnam is a (used to be actually) politician / lawyer in singapore. He was against PAP's policies and was sued to bankruptcy. He's living in JB now. Interesting.
